FLUORESCEIN STAINING


Fluorescein staining is highlighted by the use of filters.  The biomicroscope has a cobalt (blue) filter which can be placed in the light path.  A Wratten 47B filter can also be used.  The blue filter enhances the staining.  The staining can be further highlighted by placing a yellow filter (Wratten #12 or Tiffin #2) over the objective of the biomicroscope.  The top photo shows a yellow filter sliding into the filter holder over  the objective.  The bottom photo shows the filter as it comes from the photoshop.
